HOW TO: FLY ON A PRIVATE JET EVERY TIME

display-panel-457381_1920

This article shows you why and how to fly on a private jet, anytime you want, anywhere you need to go.

Flying private saves time and money. And you need time and money when you’re following a football team halfway across the country. But we’re not just talking about college football in this article. We just think think that football is the best way to illustrate the possibilities and benefits of private air charters. After all, if you can follow the South Florida Bulls all the way to Illinois’ Soldier Field, then be back home before it’s dark, you get a sense of what is possible.

How To: Fly On a Private Jet Every Time

I’ll be using lots of football related examples throughout the article. But that’s just how I got into flying on a private jet. I needed to be somewhere and I didn’t have the time to get there. Nor did I want to spend most of my precious weekend on the road, just to watch my team get thumped by the Alabama State Hornets (that was a sad day). So substitute college football for a ski weekend or a shopping break with girlfriends. Swap game day for that family engagement you just have to be at, even if it’s 1500 miles away and nowhere near a commercial airport. I’ll show you how to fly on a private jet every time, so you can travel anywhere you want to go, in the time frame you have.

To Fly On a Private Jet Is a Possibility

Every football season I would start thinking about how to travel to the games I wanted to see. I had two options to travel on game day: fly or drive. For those games that are only a couple of hours away, it’s really not a big deal to drive, although I prefer not to because part of the experience is having a few beers at the game. But some fixtures are a five-hour drive one way. Others are a full day of driving.

So I could fly. But wait. Dealing with a commercial airline just to get to a game that’s a little too far to drive? What with the check in and then having to transfer across a city from the airport. Is it worth it just to watch the Boise State Broncos take on the Connecticut Huskies? If you’re getting lost in the football here, think instead whether it's worth a day of flying just for three hours on the slopes or on the beach. It doesn’t seem worth the hassle to fly. And to fly on a private jet? Surely that’s only for people with ostentatious sports cars. For people who wear a Rolex and have a personal assistant tell them the time.

The big game changer for me wasn’t what happened on the field. It was discovering that flying on a private jet was a possibility for almost everyone.

How To Fly on a Private Jet and Save Time

Private air can be a huge time-saver. Weekend time is extremely valuable, and it’s hard sacrificing an entire weekend just to watch a football game (my wife wasn’t best pleased with that). But by flying private I could watch the game and be back home two hours later, so the rest of the weekend was free for other priorities.

Let’s say you booked a private air charter to a game that starts at 3pm. It’s a six-hour drive or a one-hour flight. This is what the college game day would look like.

  • Depart for the game: Show up at an airport’s private terminal around 12:45. Take off at 1pm.
  • Arrive: Arrive at 2pm, landing directly in the town where the game is being held. Share an Uber over to the stadium.
  • Enjoy a beer before kickoff then lose your voice cheering on your team for the next few hours.
  • Depart: Grab an Uber back over to the airport and hop on your plane around 7pm.
  • Arrive: Land at 8pm and be back home by 8:30.

When you fly on a private jet you get the main benefit of any flight - it’s quicker to cover the distance to your destination. But the biggest time saver comes from the convenience of flying private. Fly on a private jet and you only need to be at the airport 15 minutes before take off. If you’re late, phone ahead and the pilot will wait. You can take off and land at over 4000 domestic airports, drastically reducing transport time on the ground. Private air charters are able to fly directly into the airports of the smaller cities where most college games happen, which sheds hours off the travel time and leaves you with way more flexibility in your schedule.

How To Fly On a Private Jet and Save Money

Considering the lifestyle that is traditionally associated with flying private, it may seem like a private charter to a college football game would be both expensive and rather outrageous. But, by booking a flight through a marketplace, a private charter could actually save you money in the long term.

Driving to the game, staying overnight in a hotel, paying for a two-night minimum, eating out, and other costs that come with being on the road can add up to be a very expensive trip. Those costs could equal, or even be more than the cost of a private flight to go the game, a flight which would get you there and back on the same day within about 8 hours.

For example, last football season, a group of 8 Airvel flyers took a charter from Nashville to Tuscaloosa for $650 each. They were able to experience game day without the hassle of a long road trip and saved a lot of their weekend time. Traveling to college football game day can be that simple and $650 for a private jet share was less than the costs associated by going by road. Most importantly, it meant more time to enjoy the experience.

Use Private Jet Share To Get the Best Deals As a Group

Every weekend I would fill the car with friends so we could split the travel costs. You’ve probably done something similar, even if it was back in your college days. The same principle can be applied to private air charters. You can fly on a private jet but only pay for a single seat. Friends and family pay for their seats so you split the costs. It’s known by some as a private jet share and is how I’ve been traveling to college football games for the last two years.

Sharing the costs of a private jet isn’t always possible. There are strict FAA Part 135 regulations on private air charters - an operator can only rent out their aircraft in its entirety. Airvel has found a workaround that means to fly on a private jet is similar to buying seats on a commercial airline. You or your friend reserves the aircraft and pays for their seat. An invite link is sent out to friends and family. Everyone enters their payment details and when all the seats are taken, the money is deducted and the flight is confirmed.

This is a massive breakthrough in making it affordable to fly on a private jet. For example, the price isn’t $6500, it’s $650 per seat. Nobody must pay the full amount then go about collecting money from friends. For every game I book a seat through the Airvel app and send an invite to my game day group.

Now I’m going to give a low down on how to fly on a private jet to the top ten college football destinations.
